High pressure quenching at 20 bar in helium offers depth of hardness properties unobtainable in nitrogen. However, helium costs are much higher. We offer a means to recover the helium used in high pressure quenching, thus making the process affordable. By recycling and removing contaminates from the helium gas, we can recover about 99.5% of the volume used in quenching.
The system consists of four main components:
Compressor
Oxidation scrubber
Storage tanks
Vacuum pump
Our recovery system operates automatically undetected by the heat treat process. Its function is integrated into the ModulTherm® control logic with all appropriate monitoring software.
