Entry Level Electrical Controls Project Engineer


We are seeking an Entry Level Electrical Controls Project Engineer to join our growing team.

Electrical Controls Project Engineer required to assist with design and build of control systems for industrial heat treat equipment (heat treating furnaces and support equipment).

Responsibilities:
• Develops control schematics based upon equipment and customer specifications.
• Develops and issues Bills of Materials.
• Develops PLC and HMI programs.
• Performs various engineering calculations.
• Provides Manufacturing and Start-up assistance when required.


Qualifications:
Electrical Engineering or Technical degree desirable but will consider all education.


Experience with much or all of the following:
- Working knowledge of the design of industrial electrical control systems.
- Working knowledge of CAD
- Familiarity with the NFPA 70 Standard (National Electric Code) including fuse and wire sizing.
- Familiarity with the NFPA 79 Standard (Electrical Standard for Industrial Machinery).
- Experience with motor control circuits including designing circuits, sizing and specifying components and hands-on troubleshooting.
- Experience with relay control circuits.
- PLC hardware and software experience including sizing and specifying components, developing hardwiring drawings, writing PLC logic, testing and system troubleshooting.
- Knowledge and experience developing HMI screens using hardware such as Allen-Bradley PanelView.
- Experience with variable speed drives.
- Ability to design and work with systems utilizing discrete process controllers.
- Ability to provide summaries of equipment operation to be used by technical writers.
- Willing and able to travel to jobsite to assist with start-up of equipment when required to do so.
- Able to work well in a team environment.

Application/Estimating Engineer

We are seeking an Application/Estimating Engineer to join our growing team. In this position, you will be responsible for sizing equipment, writing proposals and developing cost estimates for our custom designed heat treating furnaces.

Responsibilities:
• Size Continuous and Batch Heat Treating Furnace systems and companion equipment
• Estimate mechanical, electrical and programming and process engineering design hours
• Estimate steel fabrication labor and materials required for manufacturing and assembly
• Estimate heat resistant alloy components for high temperature applications
• Estimate refractory labor and materials for thermal insulation systems
• Estimate convection heating and recirculation systems for heating and process uniformity
• Estimate gas and electric heating and cooling systems, sizing components and assembly labor
• Estimate conveyors and mechanical drive systems and assembly labor hours
• Estimate process control systems for automation, temperature, combustion, atmosphere, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic control systems with control panels and assembly labor.
• Prepare proposal documents and drawings for sales and customer
• Prepare monthly sales reports
• Process order entrees into computer database to establish budgets
• Report estimated cost to actual cost to manufacture and maintain standard equipment pricing


Qualifications:
• Must have 2 year engineering degree with 2 years of working experience in the Capitol Equipment Industry.
• Prefer bachelor’s degree in engineering either mechanical or metallurgical
• Prefer any thermal processing experience
• Prefer experience estimating structural steel fabrications, tanks and conveyors
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Strong computer skills
• Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Controls Engineer – PC Field Tech (HMI)

We are seeking a Controls Engineer – PC Field Tech (HMI) to join our growing team.

Design PC-based HMI interfaces for industrial heat treat furnaces using proprietary software and implement the technology on heat treat equipment in the field. The ideal candidate must be comfortable with computer programming on any platform. PLC programming is required. Must have an interest in learning how industrial heat treat furnaces operate and are controlled. The applicant may acquire other skills required on the job. Familiarity with industrial PC configuration, PLC programming, industrial controls networking protocols and some background in electrical controls is preferred, but not required in advance.


Responsibilities:

  • Design PC-based HMI screens using proprietary software provided by the company.
  • Implement PC-based HMI setup at the customer’s facility on company furnaces and equipment.
  • Implement and troubleshoot alarm messages from the PLC, furnace part recipes, and part tracking.
  • Startup/troubleshoot HMI and equipment operation at customer facilities.
  • Train customer personnel how to navigate and use the HMI screens to safely operate and control the provided equipment.
  • Understand and troubleshoot how the PC-based HMI integrates with other technologies, including PLC programs for sequential motion control, industrial networks, etc.
  • Integrate various industrial controls, such as PLCs and other network devices, to support systems.
  • Learn other technologies related to the position, including SCADA systems, alternative HMI software, technology required by customer specifications, etc.
  • The position provides the opportunity for worldwide travel. Travel may eventually account for 25% of time on the job, or more.

Qualifications/ Experience Required:

  • The successful candidate may not necessarily have the knowledge and experience to carry out all functions described above but must have the desire and the drive to master them in time.
  • Must be computer savvy and innovative with a strong “hands on” approach.
  • Engineering degree desirable but not required.
  • Field experience working around industrial equipment
  • PLC programming capabilities.
  • PC programming capabilities.
  • Allen-Bradley experience
  • Industrial network experience (Ethernet, Profibus, Modbus, DH+, etc.)

Position requires some travel to customer heat treat facilities, both nationally and internationally, to assist in system debug and start up as necessary. Ability to obtain passport is required.

Foreman: Refractory Mason (Bricklayer)

Responsibilities of this position include working as Acting Foreman for bricking of heat treat related equipment in house, doing relines in the field, estimating jobs, and actual hands on work.

Duties will include the following:

• Interpret prints or sketches, plan work details and determine material requirements.
• Lay firebrick and refractory tile to build, rebuild, reline, or patch high-temperature or heating equipment according to job orders and blueprints:
• Lay out work using chalklines, plumb bobs, tapes, squares, and levels.
• Calculate angles and courses for building walls, arches, columns, corners, and bottoms.
• Remove burned or damaged brick and cleans surface of setting, using sledgehammer, pry bar, pneumatic chipping gun, scraper, and wire brush.
• Cut brick to size.
• Cut, notch, or drill openings to provide outlets, brackets, and heating elements, using hand and power tools.
• May also pack insulation into shells and frames to insulate heating equipment.
• Perform work requiring knowledge of the properties and workability of bonding and ceramic materials, allowances for expansion and contraction of masonry work and the skillful use of tools of the trade.

Required skills:

• Possess the ability to repeatedly lift 55 lbs.
• Cut bricks with hand or wet saws.
• Use common hand and power tools (Circular saw, reciprocating saw, wet saw)
• Ability to remove old refractories while documenting existing equipment layout and refractory placement.
• Install insulation to equipment specifications.
• Install refractory brick based on equipment design.
• Install castable materials.
• Build and install form work for castable application
• Brick arch roofs
• Brick Cylinders (exhaust stack)
• Tear out of refractory masonry
• Using and maintaining refractory tools and equipment
• Installation of ceramic fiber blankets and modules
• High regard for safety standards.
• Must have working command of the English language, and be able to effectively communicate.
• Must be authorized to work in the US.
• Some travel required, both domestic and international (ability to obtain passport required)

Education & Experience Requirements:

• Education: High school diploma or general education degree.
• Experience: minimum 8 years refractory installation

We are seeking a Sales Engineer with practical engineering experience to become a part of our team to answer queries, provide pre-and post-sales technical advice and support our products.

Responsibilities:

  • Sell large, custom engineered heat treatment equipment 
  • Equipment features include various levels of automation and complex processes.
  • Manage existing business while always looking for opportunities with new customers
  • Educate customers on product features and benefits
  • Organize sales visits and maintain relationships with customers
  • Assist engineering and service with technical problems
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation of proposals and quotes to meet customer requirements
  • Engineering Sales team has support for proposal development and pricing from Applications and Estimating Department.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions
  • Review cost and sales performance
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support new equipment sales activity
  • Interface with Sales Representatives and Partners as required
  • Attend trade exhibitions, conferences and meetings
  • Ensure that sales targets are met
  • Conform to all policies & procedures within the company.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering degree or comparable experience in industrial capital equipment sales.
  • Engineering related to heat treat or metallurgical experience desirable
